1. Who we are. The Convention is an independent platform operated by Muhammad Zakria. You can contact us at editor@theconventionmedia.org. We are based in Italy, so EU data protection law (GDPR) applies.
2. What we collect and why
- Site analytics. We use Google Analytics and Search Console through the Site Kit plugin to understand which pages are read, from roughly where, and on what device. This data is aggregated, and we collect it using cookies only with your consent where required.
- Server logs. Our host keeps technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.
- Messages and pitches. If you email us or use a form, we receive your name, email address and message. We use them to reply and to consider submissions, and we keep them for up to 24 months after our last contact unless a longer period is needed, for example for a published author.
- Contributors. For published authors we hold a name, bio, optional photo and email address. We keep consent forms for contributors under 18 privately.
- Email. Messages to our addresses are processed by our email provider, Zoho.
- Newsletter. your email address, used only to send our newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.
3. Cookies. We use essential cookies, and with your consent, analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link and your browser settings.
4. Who processes data for us. Microsoft Azure (hosting) swedencentral, Google (analytics), and Zoho (email). Social media platforms may set their own cookies if you click embedded or shared content.
5. Transfers outside the EEA. Some providers may process data outside the EEA. We rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
6. Your rights. You may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of your data, object to its use, or withdraw consent at any time. Email editor@theconventionmedia.org. You can complain to the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) or to your local authority.
7. Children. The site is not directed at children under 16.
8. Advertising: we may show ads served by Google and its partners, which may use cookies to show relevant ads. You can manage this in the cookie settings.
9. Changes. We will post any changes here with a new date.
